BarcodeOpsKit uses reviewed, vendored snapshots so local results are reproducible and do not depend on a mutable runtime service.

What the local implementation checks

The Stage 09 implementation checks assigned AI, field length, character set, supported YYMMDD structure, embedded Modulo-10 digits, duplicates, required associations, exclusions, FNC1 boundaries, and GTIN Digital Link qualifier placement. It does not claim to execute every named upstream linter or every application-specific GS1 rule.

Human-reviewed update workflow

  1. pnpm standards:update downloads a candidate outside the active snapshot.
  2. Review the source, license, release notes, hash and human-readable diff.
  3. Generate typed data and inspect assigned AI or rule changes.
  4. Run pnpm standards:check, pnpm standards:test and the full verification gate.
  5. Update the active metadata only after human approval.

The update command never overwrites production standards data. No runtime request is made by either GS1 tool.

Independence and limits

BarcodeOpsKit is independent and not affiliated with GS1. A matching syntax or check digit does not establish assignment, registration, ownership, company identity, product identity, resolver configuration, physical print quality, certification, or commercial acceptance.
